Cub Scout Toolboxes

Some weeks ago, our daughter the cub scout leader, called the woodworker for some help. It seems that the cub scouts had been learning about tools and were supposed to build themselves toolboxes. The woodworker agreed to cut out the parts, ready for the boys to put together. Here you see one of the kits.



A kit was made for each boys.



It was decided that Garrett, one of the cubs, should be the guinea pig, to work out the difficulties in assembling the tool box. He started by setting the parts in place and then lightly gluing them together.



Then he drilled pilot holes for the screws.



Next he screwed the parts together.



Then the handle was put into place.



Then he used a rasp to smooth the edges a bit.



....and a plane to smooth a rough part.



Here we have a proud cub scout showing off the fruit of his labors.



When the rest of the cubs build their boxes, he will be able to assist in the project.
