People are always fascinated by the process of producing yarn from wool. Most of our wool spinning takes place on the Pioneer site.
This year the mountain men were having an encampment at the base of the beautiful Wellsville Mountains - circa 1820.
This past year they have been able to put in a new bridge to improve access to the pioneer site, so during the festival, the bridge was officially dedicated. It has made it so much easier for us to get around out there.
This last picture is my most favorite woodwright and lace bobbin maker, making a bobbin on an old treadle lathe. I think it must take a lot of coordination to shape that bobbin with hands, while furiously running the treadle to make the lathe go around! What a workout!
